PromptPills stores the shortcut labels, message templates, colours, ordering and send/insert choices you configure in Chrome's local extension storage. It also stores your debug-logging and tab-status preferences locally. It does not transmit these settings to a developer-operated service or sync them between devices.
The extension accesses the message editor and response controls on chatgpt.com to display shortcuts, insert selected messages, detect responses and activate the recognised Send button when requested. Existing draft text is examined temporarily to preserve it and avoid sending after the draft changes. It is not logged or stored by PromptPills.
PromptPills has no analytics, advertising, remote code, developer-operated backend or telemetry. It does not store conversation history or collect account credentials. When you send a message, ChatGPT processes it under its own terms and privacy policy.
Saved templates and preferences remain until you change or delete them, or remove the extension. You can delete individual templates in settings. Removing the extension removes its local storage. Templates are saved as ordinary extension data, not an encrypted secrets vault.
This policy describes version 1.0.0. PromptPills is an independent extension and is not affiliated with OpenAI.
Manual backups
Export downloads a JSON file containing your saved prompt text, labels, colours, actions, order, debug and tab-status settings (including any edits currently in the settings editor). Import reads a file you select locally and does not upload it. These files may contain sensitive text; keep them private. Exported backups remain in the location you choose until you delete them yourself. Applying an import stages it in the editor; Save changes writes it to local extension storage.
Optional tab status
The tab-status preference is stored locally. When enabled, each tab inspects its own response controls and draws a status badge in its favicon. To retain the original site logo, the browser may load the existing favicon URL already declared by the page; this request contains no prompt or response content added by PromptPills. If that icon cannot be drawn locally, the extension uses a neutral fallback. Busy/ready state is kept only in tab memory, is not broadcast to other tabs, and is not logged or saved. Original favicon links are restored when disabled or when navigating to another conversation.
Optional diagnostics and use limits
Debug logging is off by default. When enabled, it exposes version, state, counts and booleans in the local page console and a document marker; it does not include prompt text, templates, drafts, URLs or credentials. Turning logging off removes the marker and stops new messages. Existing console entries remain until cleared.
PromptPills handles data only to provide its prompt shortcuts, local settings, manual backups and optional response indicator. It does not sell user data, use it for advertising or profiling, or send conversation text to the developer. Local processing is still data handling: the extension reads the current composer to preserve drafts and operate the shortcuts, as described above.
